We decided the 1m needed to shed some weight, and to fix the injustice of BMW not fitting the small coupe with a carbon fiber roof.

TThe carbon roof in all of it's glory ! Made to order replicating the original carbon weave pattern used by bmw for M cars, it arrive with a super nice cclearcoat finish. This isn't a cover, it's a structural replacement for the steel sheet of the roof.
The roof installation require to drill out the spot welds of the original roofs. For this, the headliner and pillars trims are removed. The edges of the carbon roof is prepared for the BMW carbon fiber specialty glue. The glue also call for preparation of the exposed metal tabs that hold the roof.
Our team masked the paintwork of the car, then applied the glue, and within the 30 minute window, needed to align the roof, and clamp it down.
Our work is based of the repair instruction for the E92, which had a carbon roof from the factory and BMW provide extensive repairs instructions for the replacement.
The car cannot be moved for the next 24hrs as the glue will cure. The instructions also call for an extensive amount of glue being used, a nice thick bead should seep out from the edges.

All the clamps of the shop where used to lock in the place the roof during the cure.

Fully cured roof. The old roof molding where used to center the panel to ensure a perfectly symmetrical fit. They will be replaced by brand new trims painted black to match.
We installed oem bmw lightweight soundproofing sheets to prevent any undesired noise from the light roof from going into the cabin and provide some thermal insulation.
