Mail-In Module Repair FAQ

How do I send my module to BimmerPro?

After placing your order online, you will receive instructions explaining:

  • where to ship your modules
  • which modules are required to complete the repair

Please write your order reference number on the outside of the package so we can quickly match your shipment with your repair order.

You may ship using the carrier of your choice. Local customers may also drop off modules in person.

We strongly recommend not requesting a signature at delivery. Missed delivery attempts often cause rescheduling delays and can slow down your repair timeline. We have secure procedures in place for safe package reception at all times. 📦

How should I package my modules for shipping?

Control modules are sensitive electronic components and must be packaged carefully.

Recommended packaging:

  • ESD-safe anti-static bags (best option)
  • paper wrapping if anti-static bags are unavailable
  • bubble wrap cushioning
  • rigid outer box

Do not wrap modules in plastic bags such as Ziploc bags.

Extra precautions:

  • protect ECU connector pins with tape
  • avoid loose items inside the box
  • tie keys to modules or place them inside labeled bags

If your VIN was not entered during checkout, please write it on one module inside the package.

What is the typical turnaround time?

Orders are processed in the order they are received and are typically completed within 1–2 business days after arrival.

Processing time may vary depending on:

  • module type
  • damage condition
  • parts availability
  • diagnostic complexity

Selecting the wrong service or sending incorrect modules may increase processing time, especially if replacement components are not immediately available.

Priority (rush) processing is available for certain services. ⏱️

What happens if my module cannot be repaired?

If a module is damaged beyond repair, several options may be available:

  • a remanufactured exchange unit through our trade-in program (depending on inventory)
  • a new VIN-coded replacement module supplied through manufacturer repair-partner channels
  • return of your original module with no repair charge (shipping only)

You will always be contacted to approve the available solutions before proceeding.

Do I need to program the module after reinstalling it?

In most cases where your original module is repaired, no additional programming is required.

Some repairs may require:

  • calibration (for example ADAS components)
  • initialization procedures (such as windows or LED headlights)
  • vehicle coding

If required, this is typically indicated in the product listing.

For certain services, remote vehicle coding is included. In those cases, a cable may be provided so our technicians can complete the process remotely once the module is reinstalled. 🔧

Can I install the module myself after repair?

Yes. Most repaired modules can be reinstalled by:

  • the vehicle owner
  • a local repair shop
  • a dealership

Special tools are generally not required, unless specified in the service listing.

Do you test modules before returning them?

Yes. Modules are bench-tested whenever possible to confirm:

  • communication integrity
  • internal memory stability
  • output stage functionality
  • resolution of reported fault conditions

Remanufactured and used modules supplied by BimmerPro are fully tested before being added to inventory. ✅

Modules submitted for replacement only are not tested prior to return.

Will removing my module affect my vehicle while it is being repaired?

Yes. Depending on the module removed, the vehicle may be:

  • undriveable
  • partially disabled
  • missing certain functions

If you are unsure whether your vehicle can remain operational, contact us before removing the module.
